Monday Night Racing Announces New Pro Series Entry Protocol

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (May 12, 2022) – Monday Night Racing (“MNR”) today announced a new race entry protocol, effective starting this season. This new protocol will protect those competitors who have made the biggest commitments to MNR since its inception, while simultaneously creating a pathway for any new entrants into the series in the future.

"We have listened and accepted valuable feedback from our Monday Night Racing community on what we can do to strengthen our races that made MNR what it is today”, said Ford Martin, Founder & Co-Owner of Monday Night Racing. “After multiple discussions with our team, we are confident this new format will be a way of giving back to those individuals that have made Monday Night Racing what it is today and have been part of the league since the beginning".

Beginning the fourth race (Radicals @ Texas) of the Monday Night Racing Pro Series presented by Interstate Batteries summer 2022 season, the 35 highest-ranked drivers in the points standings entering the next week will be locked-in to that corresponding event.

The new “Top 35” rule will not be observed for certain short track/dirt track events that will employ a heat and feature race format. Full and expanded field (43+ entries) MNR events will be the only events which observe the “Top 35” rule.

Drivers who sit outside of the Top 35 in points and are entered for a Monday Night Racing Pro Series presented by Interstate Batteries event will have three pathways to enter an MNR Pro Series event, as follows in this order:

1. Promoter’s Provisionals (2) – MNR leadership retains the ability to award two spots in the field to drivers of their choice. If MNR leadership does not designate two promoter’s choice drivers PRIOR to qualifying of that event, no promoter’s choice provisional will be awarded, and will be replaced by two extra legacy provisional spots.

2. Merit Provisionals (3) – Awarded to the three drivers on the entry list outside of the Top 35 who set the fastest qualifying time

3. Legacy Provisionals (3-5) – Legacy provisional spots are awarded to the three drivers on the entry list with the most MNR starts who are outside of the Top 35. Two additional legacy provisional spots may be awarded if MNR leadership does not exercise its use of the promoters provisional.

Tune in to Podium Esports at 7:30 PM EDT on Monday, May 16, when the stars of the Monday Night Racing Pro Series presented by Interstate Batteries take to the virtual Watkins Glen International running the Pro 2 Off-Road Trucks around the traditional NASCAR layout of the circuit.
